Hey guys! I have a special blog post for you today! This post is a collab with myyteenlifee, an amazing community blog that publishes posts written by several talented teen bloggers. I wrote a blog post over there as well. Please go show their blog some support! So myyteenlifee will be taking over now:
There are so many popular books that have been turned into movies. Here are our top recommendations:
Harry Potter
I’m a huge fan of the books (I recently read through them again!) and I also love the movies. All of the scenes were amazing in the movies, allowing me to visually understand the setting better. In the books, J.K. Rowling’s vocabulary and imagination are outstanding.
Divergent
For most books and movies, I read the book before watching the movie. For this, however, I watched the movie first. I really liked the casting of the movie, with Shailene Woodley as Tris and Theo James as Four. It’s amazing how much the characters develop over time – shown even more clearly in the book.
Hunger Games
The series is a dystopian classic and must read but also a must watch. While a lot of movies don’t live up to the potential of the books, this series definitely does. The movies give you a glimpse into the world of Panem and illustrate all the characters beautifully.
Crazy Rich Asians
This is one of my favorite movies ever – the ending is so sweet. In my opinion, I think it’s really neat how similar Rachel and Nick and Astrid and Michael’s relationship seemed to be at first, but developed into two completely different endings. I also really liked the book, but I have not read the sequels to it yet.
Little Women
This book was one of my favorites as a kid and the movie is definitely as good as the book. While the movie’s layout is different, with the director opting to set the story when all four girls are grown up and showing flashbacks of them as a kid, the plot is very similar to the book. The cinematography is amazing and the costumes were immaculate.
Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark
A childhood horror book classic, the movie takes a couple well loved stories from the collection and connects all of those stories to make one large plotline. My friend and I were the only ones in the theater when we watched it and it was very scary. The jumpscares were good, the story was chilling, and the creativity was amazing. Definitely recommend watching this movie to horror movie enthusiasts.
To Kill a Mockingbird
We read this classic in school and I have to agree with my English teacher that the themes in the book are memorable. Both the book and movie outline the importance of human nature and innocence.
Bridge to Terabithia
The book was so good, detailing the friendship between two young children and the movie brought that friendship to life. It made me laugh, sob, and think to myself this adaptation couldn’t have been any better.
Ella Enchanted
Everyone can agree that Ella Enchanted was a good book with a very interesting concept that captures the attention of the reader. The movie is a good adaptation of the book starring Anne Hathaway, who is perfect for the role of Ella. The movie is fantastic in combining magic and the modern world (the wooden escalator, anyone?) and is very entertaining from beginning to end.
The Great Gatsby
The book and the movie was rich in detail and the party scenes will capture the reader and/or the watcher’s attention. The plot is very interesting and the movie does a very good job of bringing the classic book to life.
Thanks so much for reading! Make sure to tell us if you decide to read/watch any of these 🙂
